The Choice is Clear

THE HEARTBEAT OF OUR HOME

We have all heard the abbreviations R.N., L.V.N., C.N.A., T.N.A, and M.A. Who are they and what do they do? An R.N. is a Registered Nurse, an L.V.N. is a Licensed Vocational Nurse, a C.N.A. is a Certified Nurse Aide, a T.N.A. is a Training Nurse Aide. An M.A. or Med Aide’s responsibility is to administer medications directly to each patient as ordered by the physician and supervised by the licensed nurse.

Director of Nursing (D.O.N.), Nancy Ivie, oversees all nursing care in our facility. Assistant Director of Nursing (A.D.O.N.), Paula Casmer, oversees staffing work schedules.

An R.N. or L.V.N. are the link between the resident and physician and carry out the orders given to them from the physician. They also work closely with families of the residents. The R.N. or L.V.N. also work as a team with the C.N.A. to ensure the quality of life for each resident, so they can resume a life as normal as possible or ADL (Activity of Daily Living). The R.N. or L.V.N. are ultimately responsible for everything that goes on with each resident, C.N.A. and Med Aide.

It is the C.N.A.’s responsibility to help carry out the activity of daily living and promote a quality of life as normal as possible for each patient. They do this through direct patient care (hands-on) to help each resident with all AM and PM care as one would do for themselves in a home setting. The C.N.A. is certified by the state and meets all curriculum and standards the state sets.

Melissa Caldwell, L.V.N. provides training for certification as a Nurse Aide. She also provides 12 hours per year in-service training for all staff to meet state mandate

Everyday our dedicated D.O.N., A.D.O.N., R.N.s, L.V.N.s, C.N.A.s, T.N.A.s and Medication Aides go about their work of providing quality care to our residents. Their jobs are stressful and sometimes their 8-hour shift seems longer. And yet, everyday they show our residents kindness, care, concern, and patience.

They truly are “The Heartbeat of Our Home”.
